The Sarah Connors Chronicles is the one and only truly great follow up to T2 in that franchise. It's cancellation after only two seasons, and on a cliffhanger, was criminal.

@@DenisRyan I do know the general idea for how the rest of the series would’ve gone and how it was supposed to end (or at least the original plan at the time of its cancellation). Some of it is speculation and filling in the blanks, but I believe I’m pretty close. The Sarah Connor Chronicles was supposed to last about four Seasons, with John spending the entirety of Season 3 in the alternate future while Sarah and James Ellison continued to fight Skynet in the present. John would’ve learned more survival skills from the Reese Brothers while also developing a romantic relationship with Allison Young (who Cameron was based off of). There was a possibility for an older Sarah Connor showing up, having become the leader of the Resistance in John’s place. Savannah Weaver also would’ve been a recurring character in both the present and future storylines. She would’ve been under James and Sarah’s protection until they could find somewhere for her to be safe from the machines. Savannah also would’ve been in a love triangle between her, John, and Allison. Jesse and Riley may have returned in the future as well. In the present, Sarah would’ve been undergoing chemotherapy, with her cancer eventually going into remission. Sarah and James also would’ve bonded over the course of Season 3, eventually becoming a couple. Looking after Savannah also would’ve played a part in this. I believe there would’ve been an episode that would FINALLY introduce Sarah Connor’s parents. John Henry, who was in possession of Cameron’s chip, would’ve spent the majority of Season 3 in the future, learning about Humans and Terminators through interacting with them. This would’ve resulted in John Henry seeing the value in Human life and wanting to protect them, causing an even bigger contrast between him and other Terminators. Cameron would’ve been instructing John Henry through her chip in his body, revealing that she had secret orders involving him, either given to her by Future John or Catherine. Miles Dyson’s son, Danny, would’ve become a main character, with his mother also having a recurring role. Danny, having inherited his father’s intelligence, would’ve been helping Skynet, presumably against his will. Either that, or the machines were tricking him. There also would've been other Humans who were helping Skynet in the present for various reasons. In the future, John would’ve eventually learned how his mother failed to stop Judgment Day and plans to find a way back to 2010 to warn her. By the finale, Skynet would’ve developed its Time Displacement Equipment, with both Johns helping the Resistance attack it so they could use it to change the past. Allison Young would’ve been captured by Skynet at some point and turned into a T-900, but instead of being reprogrammed by John Connor, she is sent to 2010 to kill Sarah, James, and possibly Savannah and Danny. Catherine Weaver would’ve officially reappeared at this point and helps send Kyle Reese to 1984, the reprogrammed T-800 (presumably played by a body double) to 1995, and Derek Reese and John Henry to 2010 to help Sarah stop the T-900 and warn her of the future. Catherine then would’ve sent John Connor back in time, but not to 2010. In the present, Danny probably would’ve sacrificed himself in a similar manner to his father to destroy his work and Skynet’s factory. John Henry would’ve helped incapacitate the T-900 so its chip could be replaced with Cameron’s and, having finally figured out his purpose, agrees to help stop Skynet for good. Season 3 would’ve ended with John Connor arriving in April 22, 2011, the day after Judgment Day, looking over the ruins of the world. Season 4 would’ve also been split up between the present and the future. In the future storyline, John, having acquired more survival and leadership skills, would’ve befriended the young Reese Brothers and helped them through the aftermath. John would mainly be dealing with Human threats in the future before Skynet officially started sending Terminators. John also would’ve learned that even though he saved his Mom, she and the other characters still would’ve died trying to stop Skynet from coming online. In the present, Sarah, James, Cameron, (Oh! I see what they did there.) and John Henry continue their mission to prevent Judgment Day. I believe John Henry would’ve had a more pacifist approach to dealing with Terminators, choosing to reprogram them and give them free will rather than destroy them. This would’ve had both good and bad results. Catherine Weaver would’ve popped up again at some point to finally clarify her motivations and have closure with Savannah. Basically, Skynet stopped making T-1000s because of their potential to evolve beyond their purpose. Catherine was also a part of a faction in Skynet who were looking for alternative ways to ending the war. Future John tried making a deal with Catherine, that if she helped him destroy Skynet, he would let T-1000s and other AIs exist. Catherine didn’t trust John and declined, choosing instead to travel to the past to create a new more compassionate advanced AI to combat Skynet. Cameron may have been secretly working with her throughout the series so advanced artificial intelligence could continue to exist without Skynet. At some point, Sarah would’ve started feeling sick again and gone for a test, expecting to be told that her cancer had returned, only to learn the unexpected. She’s pregnant. This also would’ve connected to James’ desire to be a father. In the future war, as years go by, John rises through the ranks of the Resistance and becomes their leader. The series finale I believe would’ve included a time-travel gambit to defeat Skynet. In the present, the Terminators successfully kill Sarah and her team, with the exception of Cameron, who goes into hiding. Cameron resurfaces 20 years later and tells an older John Connor what happened. This also finally allows John and Cameron to get closure with each other. John programs this new information into the younger Cameron before sending her back in time to 1999. The timeline continues the same as it was, but this time, Cameron’s new information gives Sarah and the others an advantage, leading John Henry to sacrifice himself to destroy Skynet in the present, while John Connor and Cameron sacrifice themselves to destroy Skynet in the future, officially wiping Skynet from the timeline. I don’t know what would’ve happened to Derek Reese and the younger Cameron, but I assume they would’ve died as well (I actually asked Brian Austin Green about this and he said, "Of course Derek would've survived," so make of that what you will). Catherine would’ve realized that neither Humanity nor the world are ready for advanced AI and swims to the bottom of the ocean and waits for the day they are. The ending of the finale would’ve skipped a few years into the future, showing Sarah watching James play with their child and Savannah in a playground, referencing Terminator 2’s cut ending. Sarah mourns those who died in the war against Skynet, including John Henry and her son, and vows to keep their memories alive. The End.

I have never heard even an inkling of any of this, and I don't know how much is speculation versus ideas from the actual production team, but honestly, I don't care. After so many years, you've given me a sense of closure for this series,and a very satisfying one at that.
