I remember a few years back when you shone a big huge big kickass spotlight on Covenant House in downtown Vancouver and their phenomenal job they do with homeless youth in our city. I volunteered with them just shortly before, sorting through donation clothes and got my eyes opened big time on the great work they do. So many troubled and abused kids getting a safe spot to go to with the support needed to get them on the right path to adulthood. I was/am so incredibly proud to be a Vancouverite that shares the same city with you. Your constant actions of empathy as you spoke of in this video has been well documented for years. You walk your talk and you do our city proud!

Not really. A lot of us want to go into fields that require post secondary learning. A lot of what you have around you is due to innovation from people who went to post secondary; not the few outliers who got rich and took credit. Goals require work. Well, unless you're an entertainer.

@@DA-js7xz I agree with you. Here's the inevitable BUT as someone who went to university and got a BA and MA (albeit in film and TV production) neither of these helped me in my career. They did provide me with the opportunity to live away from home and I met some amazing people. I think that unless you're studying science, maths, nursing etc then university is more of a "growing experience" and probably one that you can get by just moving out / partying with the students. University is a worthwhile aim. As is learning a trade. I don't think either is the end all be all. Bring a millionaire / famous is only one part of the spectrum and a worthy aim. As is owning some chickens and having a little plant garden. As Ryan said, the most important thing is empathy. :) Not that I'm qualified to say too much haha

I had Mr Eckhert in grade 9 as a french teacher! Back then (2017-2018), he was in my school but left the following year. He was a great teacher and gave a TON of good marks! (I suck at french but i got like 90% or so i think. Awesome man!

You are so awesome Ryan - I am a fellow Kitsie Grad 84 but I do believe you were there at the same time as my little brother! Kits was one of the best things to ever happen to me!!! I started halfway through grade 10 and came from Magee - still in touch with many of my friends too - there was something special about that school!!!!

I graduated from Burnaby Central Secondary. Now I wish I graduated from Kitslano Secidnary... However, I’m very fortunate to have graduated last year, before this whole mess started. Thanks, Ryan. Every time someone talks about you I feel proud to be a Vancouver citizen, you’re a huge role model to many.
