Thing is that both Martins are not only excellent comedic actors but also get to create/write/etc stuff. Sure, Ryan can fill one pair of shoes but you need the juxtaposition - and I am not talking about being the straight man. Imho Jacko is too stiff, too serious, even in the theoretically "off cameras" moments. I think people online need to chill. Its not the end of the world. People still think DV is not a ok, no one warched this skit and suddenly decided to beat up their partner.
@Micsq4lvАй бұрын
Championing chauvinistic dissuasiveness does nothing to support DV survivors. Fact remains that no survivor is required to heal in any set manner. DV has nuance, because people do - in reality, where DV occurs (not the clout-chasing internet). This film is based on the highly successful fictional novel - It was successful Because people found it relevant, It resonated. Art is successful because it is nuanced - it can take limitless forms - enough to cater to the limitless perspectives of the deserving survivors who would seek it for solace, expression, and representation. I’m glad DV is represented in this rom-com format. Next time, a woman should direct it. It’s a shame the male director usurped such a privileged opportunity to bully a woman and her family on a global scale merely because he failed to control her body. We probably shouldn’t victim-blame Blake. It would mirror DV cycles of abuse. Oh wait - that’s exactly what you’re doing.
@manana6646Ай бұрын
@@Micsq4lv Are you familiar with Colleen Hoover? the book was controversial because many felt like it was trivializing and romanticizing DV. Baldoni took the opportunity to capitalize on the book's popularity AND raise awareness but it's never been CoHo's intent and based on their promo shitshow, Blake and Colleen share the same vision. Bully you say? They did it all by themselves and it's crazy to me how they never saw it coming. She hijacked his project and then chose the marketing positioning, she chose to promote her alcoholic line and name a cocktail after the abuser husband at the premiere's party, she chose the branding campaign with her infamous "grab your florals"! Justin is not responsible if Blake is an airhead! People are calling out how oblivious and how poor her creative choices were. The contrast between Justin's and Blake's attitude and speech is striking (I'm not talking about their PR ping-pong, the weight and lingering kiss was such a low blow imo). I disagree with you. Men definitely should take part in such projects, particularly when it comes to physical abuse. Have a watch at Justin's interview on CBS Mornings. His answer to what he wants men to take away from the movie is absolutely brilliant. And I think that's the main reason people like him. He's credible in the sincerity of his intentions for this movie. That being said, it's true that it's dishonest to try to rectify the issues the book had if it's not the author's ambition. Maybe that's what all of this fuss is about. Overall, it's just sad for so many reasons.. but they'll be fine, the movie is a hit. Blake had a massive reality check though 🥴

I love Ryan and Blake a LOT. I think they are amazing actors but I hate the way they are advertising this movie like it is in some kind a way a romcom. If I would have never read the book, I would have never thought that the movie is about DV throughout their PR. Justin is doing a great job promoting it and raising awareness and it feels like Ryan and Blake just want to make the movie famous and get money for it, and there is nothing wrong with that, it is just the way that they are doing it. Personally I think the PR could be more serious for this kind of movie.

Marketing (good or bad) is marketing. It brings attention to the movie. They are not insulting or disrespecting the movie at all. I have read the book as well. Any good attention is AMAZING attention. I also don’t expect the movie to be exactly like the book either, I can’t wait to see what they have added to it though. Like the Harry Potter series. Doesn’t have to be the same or better. It just has to be a GREAT movie.
@vandak.8459Ай бұрын
@@HinataBooSNI am not saying that they are disrespecting the movie, I just personally think that this is not the way to advertise a movie with such deepness. They never bring awareness to DV in their ads and PR. As I said I think Blake is a great actress and she did a great job with the movie and I have nothing against it. They did an amazing job at it but I still personally think that besides advertising like this one, they should do more. This movie could help people that struggle, and they never even mention it. The book was very emotional and the whole point was about Lilly’s struggle, love and growing and fighting for a better life for herself and her daughter. And I just think that they are advertising this movie as a romcom, with saying stuff e.g. like grab your friends and wear your florals. I understand that this is not everyone’s opinion, but mine is personally.

This is disappointing to watch, given the theme of the movie is meant to be DV, this wasn't the right approach. I don't have the PR knowledge to comprehend whatever this move was but it feels in oddly bad taste? Blake's own terrible endorsement of the movie being a "rom-com", this just isn't fun. Anyone stuck in a DV situation should never be made fun of or taken lightly and while yes it's fiction in this case, it's just honestly really sad this was the take they picked. Justin seems the only one still trying to be respectful and mindful about the delicate issues that are bound to resonate with some. I understand that Ryan is a supportive husband and the /fun/ guy, deadpool was fun, but this, it just wasn't it. I hope the movie itself brings either solace or a small moment of reprive to people affected, to any younger audience, people that hurt you in the name of love need help, professional help at that, you could be the best person in the world and it still wouldn't be enough so please don't buy into the mentality of "If I love them enough! Hey Ryan, your wife made a movie about stopping abuse but little did we know she has always been a bully. If she was so abusive to a reporter in front of a camera, just imagine what she is like behind closed doors.

👏👏👏👏👏👏exactly. He knows. Ryan has been victim of Blake as well. I have watched the videos of her, making fun of Ryan and his movies. Blake treats her coworkers, fans, other females, interviewers, and her husband so disrespectfully. It's sickening.

Because his wife is being bullied on a global scale by clout-chasing chauvinists who support her abuser. Also cause he’s a loving human and partner who values his wife and the art she contributes to the world. Don’t like the movie - blame the director. Don’t like the book - blame the author. Don’t like the subject - blame men who bully women…like Baldoni.
