I followed this recipe exactly and it is really nice, the orange is a particularly nice accompaniment, giving a subtle citrus tang. The one criticism I have is that the cinnamon stick burns like hell after a while.

I’ve been a pumpkin spice hater my whole life. Until…last year. In my 32nd year I wandered astray, sifting and rummaging through the vast array of ever lasting love and admiration for a squash and it’s spicy copilots. In a quaint cafe in a small lake town in Northwestern Ontario, Canada, not far from the Manitoba border, I found myself wanting more. Wanting more than just the familiar taste of roasted jitter beans and maple. It was October and the horizon was filled with orange, red and yellow hues of tired trees winding down for the season. The air was crisp and smelled of cinnamon and vanilla and wood. I examined the menu with vigor and what my eyes landed on I’m sure shook the roots of future generations in my family tree. The pumpkin spice latte, in all her glory. The moment the soft sage coloured mug touched my lips, I felt a satisfaction I had never experienced in my life before. I was autumn and autumn was me. I felt it coursing through my veins. It was refreshing but warm and sweet, like a sweater on a cold day. It felt like my inner child was receiving a hug it had longed for, for so long. I’ll never forget this day and continue to make glorious pumpkin spice flavoured beverages at home.

Ryan Reynolds is one of the few people that make me stop what I’m doing to watch an ad because he produces more gold than a leprechaun taking a sh*t.

Pumpkin spice products actually start showing up in the stores right after 4th of July and as late as August's first week. My local grocery store's had an end cap on the coffee aisle for them for months now. It's infuriating.

Haha! Hilarious! I think a big part of why everyone gets so ecstatic about pumpkin spice during the fall is because it’s only available a few times a year. Imagine if any other flavor- chocolate, vanilla, caramel- were seasonal flavors. I’m sure everyone would be just as hectic for those if they were only available for two months in a year. People get equally as excited about pumpkin spice during the fall as they do peppermint during the winter! 😁

Just going to say that I don't "get" the pumpkin spice craze but I'm okay with those who enjoy it so long as they aren't jerks. Now I also admit if they ever have a spiced apple cider everything must taste like cinnamon apples I will probably be just as crazy- my struggle to find it every year is epic and too often fails unless I do stuff from scratch. Now off to participate in my groups' annual cider mill outing planning and dream of simple cake doughnuts with fresh from the on site vats apple cider.

Honestly I prefer pumpkin spice over apple pie spice because it is heavier on the clove. I am fond of clove, more so than cinnamon. Therefore I do not limit myself to pumpkin spice to just the fall. I do think that companies have lost their damn minds putting it in anything they can think of. And when my local small donut shop put out pumpkin spice donuts, these are not regular donuts sprinkled with pumpkin spice. These are donuts made with actual pumpkin with the appropriate spices. They are more like pumpkin bread donuts. There have been fights over the last one in the box.

Don’t apologize! This commercial is FREAKING BRILLIANT! In reality pumpkin has NO flavor. It’s the spices that makes it taste better. You can add those same spices to zucchini and it would probably work. I like pumpkin (spiced or not) but I’ll never lose my freaking mind over it.
